Male Fashion - Tips For Buying A Well-Tailoured Suite

Few things are as amazing and as pleasant to look at as a man in a well-tailored suit. I could almost kiss every man who looks proper in a good suit, well... OK, maybe not but you get the point right?

Totally agree!!

Before you make a costly purchase on a suit that you won't like, read the following tips on what makes a suite a "well-tailored" suit.

1. Unless you have done it before, take someone with you: Sales people are paid to lie and they will therefore tell you that you look good in almost anything you try on! Be weary of the sales guy.

2. Know why you are buying a suit: This is very important. You will obviously need different suits for wearing to work, weddings & formal functions, job interviews and the kind that you might want to wear with sneakers. For your wear-once-a-week-to-work type of suit; you want to keep it dark and classic. For weddings or any other formal functions; black or navy is the ultimate. For job interviews; you don't want to wear the priciest suit in the store, a "simple" suit that will not make you look overdressed will do. Lastly, for the kind of suit that you will want to sometimes wear with sneakers or just wear the jacket with jeans; a slimmer cut makes all the difference.

3. Know you size: It is very important to not assume your suite size and to note things such as the shoulders of the suit you want to buy - the shoulder pads should never protrude beyond your own shoulders. The chest area as well is  very vital, you should be able to button the jacket without straining and at the same time, there shouldn't be too much space between the button and your chest. The length of the jacket should allow for you to cup your fingers under the sides of the jacket when your arms are hanging straight down.

4. Aaaand lastly, think about the style: Style in this case includes the number of buttons you want, the vents at the back of the jacket, the type of lapel (notch or peak lapel) and most importantly, the material - trust me, nothing ruins a well designed suit more than the wrong material!

Since we are still on the topic, may we have a moment of silence for these two men who look absolutely amazing in suits - Mr Jigga and Chuck Bass!!! *                              * I thank you!

I hope these tips will make all the difference.

Out Of My Norm But Awesome Nonetheless

Anyone who knows me well enough will know that I am totally a "heels girl", a proper girly-girl but when I saw these All Star Converse sneakers something in me knew I would trade even some of my favorite stiletto heels for these kicks, they are so awesome!

Dzaaaaayuuum!! I gotta get me these, my happiness almost depends on it lol! Have you also liked a clothing piece out of your "normal" style?

Style Inspiration - Solange Knowles

When she cut her hair and harnessed her individuality, Solange Knowles stopped being known as Beyonce's baby sister and became a style star on her own. As with many-a-women, her new style inspires me, I love the whole afro-retro thing she has going on.

Big ups Solange!

I Have Moved

This blog was going to be about SA Fashion Week, the last shows are happening right now as I blog. I decided against that idea (for tonight) and instead I'm gonna let you into my personal space, just a little bit. This past weekend I was moving house, its actually more stressful than it lets out to be or is assumed to be *wheeew*.

I moved into a bigger apartment and for some time (even now) I felt (feel) guilty for having all this space to myself, am I normal? Lark, the weirdest thing is that I know I deserve all the things I work for, partly because I do work bloody hard sometimes and mainly because I am fabulous *bats eyelashes* LOL but I can't seem to shake the guilt away, I wonder why?

A lot has been happening in my life lately (a WHOLE lot hey *giggles*). The downside of it is that I have just been so, so busy with work and more work and my thesis and more varsity work, I have somewhat neglected the things that are most important to me, such as myself....duh LOL, my friends and family and my blog. I need to stop working like I have no life, like seriously now.

You know with everything that's happening, it makes me believe that; "I am alive, I am young, I am blessed, my life is progressing and I'm living" and for that, I am utterly grateful to God.

Anyhoo, back to more positive, lighter news, the network at my new place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! and that means I will blog more often and make The Kokonut Stylist my second job, as I have always wanted to, that's awesome aaannnddd a bigger place means I get to have more space for shoes and clothes!! *chuckles*. I get to decorate the interior to reflect my personality, I get to have more visitors, I get to cook for the poeple I love more often, amazeballz!

Side Note: I am becoming the woman I wouldn't mind for my younger sister/cousins and nieces to become one day. Its an amazing feeling to see some of my goals(however small) come to life. Whatever it is you want, keep at it, one day the pieces will all come together to form the big picture you always imagined.

*Here's to more bigger things in life*.....here here!!
