Whore Wore It Better ?

Before I even blog about the MET, let's play a game called 'Who Wore It Better?' I know I am putting myself smack deep in the firing line here but I want to know.

I got my J 'n' B Met dress inspiration from a dress I saw at the most recent Golden Globes Awards. I have been asking myself this question *the nerve* over and over again....who wore it better between Kim and Koko?? Oh and that 'Kim' is Kim Kardarshian ....*I know, I know* ;-)

Soo *In Heita advert voice* who wore it better?!

The J & B Met

Joburg is buzzing with the J & B Met, one could swear it was gonna be held here in Jozi. Well, for those who do not already know; fashionistas, likers of things (its a positive thing trust me) and SA celebrities are jetting off to Cape Town for the Met this weekend.

The theme for this year's Met is "Larger Than Life" and I must say I am looking forward to seeing the larger than life outfits.

Here is what some celebs wore to last year's "In Full Color" themed J & B Met.

Khanyi Mbau - this would have looked tacky on anyone else.

Thembi Seete honoured last year's theme to the "T"!

Yours truly is also leaving for the mother city tomorrow, in the wee hours of morning. I have my dress, larger than life accessories, shoes and alles ready. Watch out for the exciting blogs when I return on Monday.

Joburg Fashion Week Buzz

Last night, AFI (Africa Fashion International) launched Joburg Fashion week at an event held at Randlords in Braamfontein. Joburg Fashion Week will be on the 15th of February till the 19th of February 2011, in various locations in the city center.

The ever stylish 'hostess with the mostess' - Noni Gasa

This year, AFI promised that Joburg Fashion Week (JFW)will capture the essence of Johannesburg and I couldn't agree more; with venues like Joburg Art Gallery, The Bus Factory, Randclub and of course, Nelson Mandela Bridge I believe Jozi will be b-u-z-z-i-n-g with fashion.!

Here are some pictures from the JFW campaign and if pictures are anything to go by, I say this will be very exciting.!

Models wearing cat suits with pictures of the four events where the JFW will be held.

This picture makes me fall in love with Jozi....over and over again.

Shot taken at the Nelson Mandela Bridge. How Epic!

I feel the essence of Jozi in this pic.*loves it*.!

BRT Glam :-)

I am extremely excited about this particular fashion week for a lot of reasons but my love for clothes, my love for Joburg city outshine all the other reasons. I am particularly looking forward to David Tlale's show on the 19th of February at the Nelson Mandela Bridge. It is said that there will be 92 models strutting their stuff on the bridge, each model representing a year in Nelson Mandela's Life...... GENIUS.!!

Other designers that I am looking forward to seeing are: Kluk CGDT, Lisp and Thula Sindi.

Watch the launch video here: Joburg Fashion Week Launch Video

Visit the AFI Website for more details on the autumn/winter fashion week. Tickets will be available 'soon' at Computicket and they start at around R170.00 so no-one has an excuse for not attending.

Now...what to wear....*thinking*

Ford - CLEO Shopping Spree (My Weekend In Pictures)

I spent my past weekend shopping at Sandton City, thanks to Ford and Cleo Magazine. Spent R5000.00 in one day and you can only imagine how happy I was (still am, actually).

As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words, I will let these do the talking:

Receiving 'my baby' on Friday. A Red Ford Fiesta Sport...lovely...(I mean the car, LOL)

Clad in shorts, 3 inch heels and ready to tackle my task for the day *happy sigh* :-)

Flanked by my friends Bikiwe (right) and Charlotte (left)

Trying on theee most perfect pair of Guess Shoes.!

Aldo, Aldo, Aldo + Sales = My piece of heaven!

After a long day of HARD WORK....with Charlotte!

Boot filled to the brim. *Happiness*

I got a bit of everything and amazing lil' gifts for everyone special to me. I would like to extend my most sincerest gratitude to both Ford and Cleo Magazine for such an amazing experience. Thank you....Ngiyabonga kakhulu,  Baie dankie hoor.....Ndiyabulela, enkosi....Ke a leboga....Ndi a Livhuha....Kanimambo. I could go on and on, I am so grateful.

Spent the entire day (about 6 hours) in heels, moving from one shop to another and from one sale to the next, can you spell B-L-I-S-S.!! I am more convinced than ever that women are meant to conquer the world and do it in heels.

Now....I gotta win myself a day at a health spa (LOL) as I am still tired from the splendid weekend I had, my friends and I were driving all over Gauteng. **Huge Grin**

Three words: CLEO, CLEO, CLEO.!!

At this very moment it is safe for me to say that CLEO Magazine is THE BEST Magazine in uummm, well.....the entire world.!

January Issue of CLEO Magazine

I follow @CLEO_SA on Twitter and a few days ago they posted a link to a competition where one could win a R5000.00!! Shopping spree plus the use of a brand spanking new Ford Fiesta.! I checked out CLEO Online (one of the fantastic blogs that The Kokonut Stylist follows) and on this FORD-Tastic Shopping : CLEO Competition I just had to blog about my funny/frustrating shopping experience.

My wheels from Friday to Monday.
(I wonder what color its gonna be)

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you...the winning 200 words.! *heek heek* :-)

      "My funny/frustrating shopping experience:

I went WINDOW shopping at Bedfordcenter, saw this dress that I liked at SoWearTo and decided to try it on, just for the kicks. Had to force it in a bit and when I finally stood there infront of the mirror admiring myself, I felt like a Queen – the dress looked amazing on me. I decided, OK its lovely but I can’t buy it. Attempted taking it off and it wouldn't come off. I looked at the price tag and my heart skipped a bit when I saw several nines and zeros after the number 1. It cost R1999.00! I called the assistant to help me get out of the dress, she couldn't and had to call one of the guys to help pull it off (as if being stuck in a dress wasn't embarrassing enough *sigh*). So there I was, in the female fitting room with a guy trying to pull a dress off me. I almost died when he said "we gonna have to cut it", that meant I had to use my grocery money to buy a dress I hadn’t wanted in the first place! My friends and I still laugh about that experience to this day."

Sowearto shop at Bedfordcenter

Thank you so much to everyone at CLEO Magazine for such an amazing price. I was blown away when they called me,  the price (it cant get better than it is now) - is the best thing that could ever happen to a Fashionista like myself. I am truly grateful.!

NOTE: Lookout for me in the March 2011 issue of CLEO to read all about my wonderful shopping experience at Sandton City and what I will get up to while driving the oh-so-gorgeous Ford Fiesta for an entire weekend.!

Yours truly,

Born to shop :-)
XOXOXO

All Hail The Great Gert-Johan Coetzee.!!

Recognize this label, its future is looking bright.!

Johannesburg-based designer Gert-Johan Coetzee recently put his design label Gert-Johan Coetzee Couture on the global map when Kourtney Kardashian wore a dress he initially designed for Kim Kardashian a few weeks ago when she was in South Africa for the promotion of Brutal Fruit's new drink Cheeky Cranberry.

Kourtney wore the dress to the People's Choice Awards which were held last night in Los Angeles.

This morning Twitter was buzzing with congratulatory tweets to Gert, he was even trending in Johannesburg and I say deservedly so; having one of the Kardarshians wear your design and acknowledge that it was done by you is a  VERY BIG deal. Congratulations to Gert, this (Kardarshian endorsement) is only the begging of a gold-platted journey for you.

The talented Gert-Johan Coetzee

Gert is no stranger to great designs, he has designed many highly acclaimed dresses for the likes of the lovely Bonang Matheba (who is also the face of Gert-Johan Coetzee Couture), Thembi Seete, Nonhle Thema and the music group - Jamali to name but a few.

Bonang Matheba pictured at the Durban July 2010 in one of the many timeless Gert-Johan Coetzee classics she wears!

Nonhle Thema looking pretty in yet another one of Gert's designs.

I wish you all the best Gert, you are truly talented. Looking at all these gorgeous dresses makes me want my very own Gert-Johan Coetzee Couture classic. I can just imagine myself saying "My dress was made by the very same designer who designed the dress that Kourtney Kardarshian wore at the People's Choice Awards, Gert-Johan Coetzee." LOL, very catchy don't u think?

For The Love Of Clothes

I recently changed my eating habits, I exercise (OK I've only done it once, thanks to the Jozi rains) and want to lose up to 10 kilograms...and YES, I want to be skinny, its my newest obsession.! I must say, it is hard though...the eating healthy part is, I crave the weirdest of greasy, baked and fried foods.

Some of things I crave, from time to time...eeew!!

My biggest motivation for wanting to lose weight is.....(excluding just generally being healthy, of course, before u judge me!)......*d-r-u-m-r-o-l-l* stylish clothing.!! Big surprise there ain't it..ha ha ha.!! Yes, I want to be able to fit into the shortest of short shorts (I was told I am leggy *in-spite of my knock knees* so gotta flaunt it LOL, whether or not its true. I believe it and it is, after all, all in the mind right? O_o ).

One of the reasons I will continue eating healthy food and exercising.
(Pictured: Blake Lively in shorts)

Skinny b*tches look good in anything *sigh*
(Pictured: Models in clothes from Beyonce's clothing line, fierce ain't it?)

Clothes, the love of MY life.!!

Ever noticed how much easier it is to be creatively stylish when you are not fat because you can look good in almost anything? With that said, I must say that style is what you are not how much u weigh.! I hope I stick to my new-found healthy lifestyle even long after I have lost the 10kilograms I want to lose *crosses fingers*.

As a measure for my degree of sanity and vanity, I will ask this question: Can anyone else out there relate to this? Ladies, anyone?

Its Just Twitter...Yeah Right

Twitter.....the other school of life; well, at least for me. I love Twitter for all its positivity and trust me, had it not been for Twitter, I probably wouldn't even be blogging #truestory. Its a lot of fun, especially if you follow interesting people, like I do. I admit there can be a lot of negativity on it as well but the good outweighs the bad.

One gets to see what ones favorite people get up to and you generally stay updated on what's IN, OUT and what the world gets up to.

Enough about that.....and down to the reason why I HAD to post this blog. OMG this morning (5 January 2011) Kimora Lee Simmons followed me.... *faints*. I have died a thousand pleasant deaths and rose again. WOW.!!! Its so surreal.

My MOST favorite 2011 moment thus far.!!

I think I first truly fell in love with Kimora Lee Simmons H after a few Episodes of "Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane" , her reality show.

I realized just how real and humane she is. She is a go-getter of note as well. After-all, one doesn't get to where she is without being a go-getter.

In case you didn't know, here is why I think Kimora Lee is amazing;
* Kimora is half African-America, one quarter Korean and one quarter Japanese (no-wonder  she looks so good)
* At thirteen, she had an exclusive contract modeling for Coco Chanel
* At fifteen, before she even had here driver's license, she bought a secondhand BMW drop-top, got into a car accident and had to have 4 stitches done in her face.
* She is a mother, wife, model, fashion business executive and entrepreneur
* Kimora is outspoken with a definite flair for high-end extravagance (Just like me *rolls eyes* LOL)
* She is the creative genius behind "Baby Phat"
* She is a multi-millionaire
* She is a fashion-ista of note
* Has her very own perfume line, with several fragrances
* She is everything I aspire to be...and more
One of her perfumes

Photographed with Ming Lee and Aoki Lee (her daughters)

She loves dogs, just like me. Talk about being separated at birth LOL

Now you know why I feel I have struck the lotto by being followed by SUCH greatness. I bow.

"Skinny" Shall Always Be In Vogue

Ever noticed how "skinny" people look good in almost EVERYTHING? They can wear the shortest of short shorts and still look good. I think I want to join the skinny revolution in 2011.....I wanna be skinny so freakin' bad LOL.

Skinny is relative  of course. It can be skinny jeans, skinny belts or a skinny body...whatever rocks your boat and there is healthy skinny and bad skinny.

Skinny jeans - pure ingenious!

Forever in vogue - skinny belts!

Rest in peace to the python that contributed to the existence of this AMAZING belt LOL.!!

The "Skinny" people who always look good.

1. Bonang Matheba
I love this girl, I admire her for working hard, 'nuff said about her. Much respect.!

Your girl B*

Well-toned bod...*loves*

2. Joelle Kayembe
This model has a body TDF (to die for) and even though her sense of style may leave a lot to be desired (not that she attends a lot of public functions for us to judge); truth is, she would look good even in a sack.

*Sigh* - words fail me

She what I mean... LOL

3. Jo-Anne Strauss
Former Miss SA, towering beauty, business woman are some of the things we associate with Jo-Anne Strauss. She has the airs and graces of a queen and a body to match, which she always adorns immaculately.

One would swear she is royalty.

Perfection!

All hail the skinny.!
